I am happy to announce I am now the owner of the “Hello Kitty” Race Bike!
This bike means a lot to me, as it did the original owner. Being Jerome Gagners introduction into racing, this Suzuki SV650 transformed over the course of several weeks during the 2008 race season without knowledge of Jerome from a Blue Race Bike, to its current state.
It was, and will continue to probably be the largest prank I have ever had the pleasure of orchestrating.
So the question is… Will I still run it with the Pink Body Work?
It is up in the air right now. I may invest into a second set of body work to use for racing. The Hello Kitty body work has become a classic, and I would hate to destroy it in a mishap. But I will most likely run it this year for the sake of saving money.
I look forward to getting her ready for the remainder of the season. She needs some love, as she has been in storage for the last 2 years.
The list right now is to rebuild and adjust the carbs, adjust the valves, oil change, clutch, and air filter.
I will also need to have Barry Wressell of KFG Dunlop work on the suspension at some point.
Overall, I am hoping to get away with less than 500 bucks to get her out on the track.
I am very excited for this, as I have actually wanted to race an SV ever since Jerome let me take Kitty out on the track for a test run, and ending up with this bike makes me very happy.
Here is the original unveiling of the bike to Jerome: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9G-enOp7G8 * Some cursing in this, so keep it turned down at work. Also, don’t mind my lack of being able to speak in the video. Problems at work the night before, and mounting the body work on the bike after Jerome went to bed and putting it back in the trailer meant I had been up for 3 days straight.
